BarcelonaPSG’s Andalusian goalkeeper, Sergio Rico, is in serious condition after a fall while riding a horse. The accident took place in Andalusia, near the town of El Rocío, where the player traveled yesterday after being a substitute in the match against Strasbourg, in which PSG got the point that declared them mathematically champions of the French league. Rico is admitted to the Virgen del Rocío Hospital in Seville with a head injury, according to sources at the health center. The same sources tell the Efe agency that the PSG goalkeeper has been “admitted to assess the extent of the fall” and that “his general condition is serious”. The horse would have hit him on the head, after the fall. The horse he was riding would have become nervous and this would have caused the fall.

The goalkeeper, 29 years old and trained in Sevilla’s academy, was called up this Saturday with PSG to face the penultimate match of the French league, in Strasbourg, where he drew (1-1) and was proclaimed champion. Sergio Rico, after the game, moved to the town of El Rocío, where the pilgrimage is being celebrated these days, and it was this morning, at a quarter to nine, when he suffered the accident that forced him to move to the hospital.
