7 Indian badminton players have withdrawn from the Indian Open badminton series due to corona injury.

The India Open is one of the 7 Super 500 Series held globally and is recognized by the World Badminton Federation. The series has been canceled for the past two years due to corona spread. This year’s series is being held without spectators at the KD Jadhav Indoor Center in Delhi amidst the corona spread, which runs from January 11 to 16. It is attended by sports stars from various countries including Canada, Denmark and Malaysia.

As part of the Corona Rules, corona testing is conducted daily for players at the hotel and playground where players play each day. According to test results taken last Tuesday, seven Indian badminton players have been infected with the corona. The World Badminton Federation has announced this.

It has also been announced that the affected players will be excluded from the tournament and the opposing players who clash with the affected players will qualify directly for the next round. It is to be recalled that Sai Praneeth, an Indian who had earlier won bronze in 2019, and doubles players Manu Atri and Dhruv Rawat withdrew from the series due to corona injuries before the start of the tournament.

Similarly England coach Nathan Robertson and player Sean Wendy were affected by the corona and the entire England team withdrew from attending the India Open.

World champion Loh Kean Yew from Singapore, three – time doubles world champion Mohammad Ahsan of Malaysia and Busanan Ongbamrungphan of Thailand are also in attendance.
