New Delhi ∙ Wrestling federation president and BJP MP Brijbhushan Sharan Singh and some coaches have accused women wrestlers of sexually exploiting them and threatening to kill them.

Prominent wrestlers, including Olympians, have said that if action is not taken at the government level against the culprits, they will approach the police with a complaint. Olympians Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia have demanded strict action against Brij and dissolution of the governing body of the federation.

At the same time, the organizers asked CPM politburo member Vrinda Karat to leave the stage. The stand of the organizers was that they were not interested in politicizing the protest and could not be on the stage. Vrinda later spoke to the media outside the venue.

They said it was unfortunate that wrestlers had to strike and action should be taken against the culprits. CPI leader Binoy Vishwa also spoke in support of the wrestlers outside the protest venue. The strike of the stars will continue today.
