Thiruvananthapuram – The government has decided to borrow another Rs 6,400 crore before the end of this financial year on March 31. 1000 crore will be borrowed on Tuesday. 2,000 crore loan will be taken at the end of this month to pay salaries and pensions. 1,900 crore next month and 1,500 crore in March. Borrowing is done through the Reserve Bank.

The state government has borrowed Rs 24,039 crore so far this financial year. With an additional borrowing of Rs 6,400 crore, the total borrowing for this financial year will be Rs 30,439 crore. In 2021-22, the central government had deducted Rs 12,562 crore from the borrowing rights of the state government, borrowed through institutions including KIFBI. From this year, the borrowing limit has been reduced by Rs 3,140 crore each for 4 years.
