The first breakdown of the year? Hundreds of Free, SFR and Bouygues Télécom customers encountered problems this Wednesday making calls, sending messages and accessing the Internet. The outage which began at 3 a.m. affected the four Breton departments, indicates France Bluenamely Côtes-d’Armor, Finistère, Ille-et-Vilaine and Morbihan.

Where does the breakdown come from? Its origin would not be due to the bad weather which partly hits the Breton coasts, but “probably to an act of vandalism on the railway tracks between Saint-Brieuc and Morlaix”, indicates Altice, the parent company of SFR. The cause of the failure is the same for the other operators; Free and Bouygues share common branches in Brittany.

Mobile network outage resolved for SFR customers

Initial improvements have been observed: the mobile network outage has apparently been resolved since 11:45 a.m., assures SFR on local radio. However, the Internet connection difficulties should only be resolved by the end of the day. “We obviously apologize for the inconvenience caused. But all the teams are mobilized hard to try to respond and above all to find services as quickly as possible,” said the head of the SFR Western delegation.

For their part, Bouygues Télécom customers have seen all services, Internet and mobile, restored, according to the operator. This breakdown has already had some consequences. In addition to difficulties for customers, the Izilo transport service of the Lorient agglomeration was severely disrupted.

These incidents concern the city’s boat and bus network.
