“Shadow Day” Registration Opens for Employers, Student Applications Follow

A unique opportunity for career exploration, Shadow Day, will return on April 1st, offering students a firsthand look into various professions. Employers can now register to participate, with student applications opening after March 5th.
Employers across latvia are being encouraged to open their doors to students for the annual “Shadow Day” initiative.This year’s event, themed “do not joke with career,” aims to provide young people with invaluable insights into the realities of different workplaces.
Bridging the Gap Between Education and Industry
As usual, Shadow Day will allow students to spend a day observing professionals in their daily routines. This immersive experience is designed to complement classroom learning and help students make more informed decisions about their future career paths. Employers are invited to apply to host students, with all relevant details for “shadow” providers available on the dedicated website, enudiena.lv, in the “Shadow casters” section.
Enhanced Platform for Student Matching
This year’s event will benefit from a new platform powered by the AUGT Foundation education. Students will be able to quickly and easily identify suitable opportunities published on the website. A key feature is a new vacancy test, requiring just 11 questions to help young people pinpoint their interests and align them with compatible professions.
Strong participation in 2025 Signals Continued Demand
The previous Shadow Day, held in 2025, saw remarkable engagement, with over 2,000 organizations participating and offering a total of 13,000 shadowing opportunities. the most sought-after professions among students included police inspector (324 applications), firefighter (nearly 200 applications), and lawyer (173 applications). This data underscores the continued demand for practical career exposure among Latvia’s youth.
The initiative represents a vital link between the education system and the professional world, empowering students to make informed choices and pursue fulfilling careers.
