**FromSoftware Reveals Details on Upcoming Elden Ring DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree**
The highly anticipated DLC for Elden Ring, titled Shadow of the Erdtree, has been a hot topic among gaming enthusiasts since it was first revealed back in February 2023. With the game already being praised as one of the best of the generation and FromSoftware’s most profitable release to date, fans have been eagerly awaiting news about the upcoming expansion.
Recent rumors suggested that the DLC would be released in early 2024, possibly marking the one-year anniversary of its announcement and two years after the game’s initial release. However, FromSoftware Producer Yasuhiro Kitao clarified that the launch timeframe is not quite as imminent as some had speculated. According to Kitao, the DLC is still in progress and has “a little way to go,” but he reassured fans that the project is “progressing well.”
Given that Elden Ring was released in February 2022, some fans have expressed surprise at the length of time it is taking for the DLC to arrive. Speculation surrounding the delayed release centers on the theory that Shadow of the Erdtree’s size and scope are so substantial that it is taking an extended period to produce.
So far, fans have only been treated to a single teaser for the upcoming expansion, which depicts Miquella riding Torrent amidst a charred and molten Erdtree. This implies that the DLC will take place after the events of the main game, a premise that has piqued the curiosity of players.
While the pricing for Shadow of the Erdtree remains unknown, industry experts anticipate that it will likely be within the $40-$50 range, with the possibility of an $80 bundle for both the base game and the expansion.
Expansions of this magnitude have the potential to make an impact in the gaming industry, with some being eligible for nominations at prestigious events like the Game Awards. Cyberpunk 2077’s Phantom Liberty expansion, for example, received nominations for Best Narrative and Best Performance and has garnered significant attention.
Given the exceptional quality of Elden Ring, there is speculation that Shadow of the Erdtree could also secure numerous nominations, despite being a DLC expansion.
With no firm dates or timelines announced, fans are advised not to expect the release of Shadow of the Erdtree in the early winter months of 2024, despite earlier rumors. As the gaming community eagerly awaits further updates, all eyes are on FromSoftware for any new developments regarding the highly anticipated expansion.
