Kochi: The government has informed the high court that broker Shah Kiran and his friend Ibrahim are not accused in the case of trying to falsify the confidential statement of Swapna Suresh, the accused in the gold smuggling case. The court granted anticipatory bail to the couple, citing the possibility of arresting the cantonment police. The petition was heard by Justice Viju V Abraham.

The court also directed that he be summoned for questioning on notice. Swapna Suresh’s statement and disclosure is a conspiracy against the government and a complaint has been lodged with the police seeking an inquiry.

The petition alleges that they were tricked into conspiring for political gain and that the friendly conversation was recorded and forged. The petition states that they are innocent and that Shah Kiran has a number of ailments. The petitioner said that he was ready to cooperate with the police and that he would abide by the conditions and be granted bail.
