Afridi has been ridiculed by fans for naming Australian wicketkeeper – batsman Mathew Wade, who was instrumental in helping Australia reach the semi – finals of the ICC T20 World Cup semi – finals.
Afridi was instrumental in helping Pakistan advance to the semi-finals after winning all five of their group matches in the T20 World Cup. In the group stage, he bowled brilliantly in matches including against India. Pakistan won the toss and elected to field.
However, Afridi failed to make it to the semi-finals of the group stage. Shaheen Afridi’s 19th over was crucial in the match as both the teams advanced to the semi – finals. But it was Wade who attacked Afridi and gave Australia the victory.

In the wake of this, Afridi was ridiculed by fans for mentioning Wade’s name. A video has surfaced on social media of some Bangladeshi fans shouting ‘Shaheen Afridi … Mathew Wade’ in praise of the star who was fielding near the boundary. The video footage soon went viral.

However, he later responded to the Bangladeshi fans who mocked him. In the second innings of the Test, he took five wickets for Bangladesh. He took five wickets for 32 runs in 15 overs. He took two wickets in the first innings.
