The ‘Walton Eighth Media Cup Badminton Competition-2024’ sponsored by Walton Hi-Tech Industries Plc and organized by Queen of Hearts concluded today, Monday (March 11). News24’s Sharna and Faiyaz won the double crown in this event.
Sharna won the women’s singles title by defeating Maksuda Akhter Lisa. Lisa is the runner-up. After that, Sharna became the champion by defeating News24’s colleague Tanveer-Fahmida in mixed doubles with Sabbir. He won the double crown.
On the other hand, Fayyaz of News24 won the men’s singles. He lost Channel I’s Noufel. Then N. in men’s doubles. Alam along with Sabbir-Tanveer pair won the double crown.
The champions of each category were given a prize money of Rs 8,000, along with a Walton pressure cooker. And the runners-up were given Walton’s bread maker with Tk 4,000.
Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed from Paltan at the end of the finals at the wooden floor gymnasium and distributed the prizes as the chief guest. Mehrab Hossain Asif, senior deputy operative director of Walton Group, the sponsoring organization, was present as a special guest.
This year’s competition is held in Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Singles, Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles categories. Where more than two hundred media workers from 30 media houses participated.
The total prize money of the competition was 1 lakh rupees.
