Shootings in Kentucky leave “5 dead and at least 6 injured”

A gunman opened fire on Monday morning at Louisville, Kentucky’s largest cityand left “5 dead and at least 6 injured”, announced the authorities of this state in the center-east of the United States.

“We confirm that there is an assailant in action” in the center of the city, the police wrote on Twitter, adding that there were “several victims”, before establishing an initial balance sheet of five deaths. The shooter was shot dead, police also said at a press briefing. Among the injured is a policeman.

Shooting in a bank

The shooting took place in a bank according to witnesses, and the local press reported a massive police presence in the area.

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear announced that he would immediately go there. Craig Greenberg, the city’s mayor, called on residents to avoid the area.
