Kolkata Knight Riders have brought in Shubhman Gill from the 2018 IPL star auction. The player, who joined the Kolkata franchise for Rs 1.8 crore, has slowly become one of their top players. He has played 58 matches for Kolkata so far in the IPL and has scored 1417 runs at an average of 31.48. The young batsman had a remarkable 478 runs from 17 matches in the 2021 season of the IPL.

Will he play for Kolkata now?
Though Gill was not retained before the auction, the Kolkata Knight Riders have a chance to reclaim him from the mega auction. But the Kolkata team will not be able to acquire Gill, one of the future superstars, as there is a huge demand for him in the mega auction.

The Kolkata Knight Riders have retained a total of four players in the squad ahead of the IPL auction. West Indies superstars Sunil Narine and Andre Russell and Indian stars Varun Chakraborty and Venkatesh Iyer.
