She slips into big clothes …
This week, on three evenings in a row, RTL is showing the new film adaptation of “Sisi” with newcomer Dominique Devenport (25) as the Austrian cult empress.
Romy Schneider made her international breakthrough at the age of 17 with the “Sisi” trilogy. Devenport is eight years older, but apart from two small supporting roles in films (including 2013 in “Night Train to Lisbon”) she has not yet appeared.

The Swiss-American did not know the originals when she was asked for the remake. Devenport to BILD: “I had never seen a ‘Sisi’ film with Romy Schneider before, but I made up for it.”
Among other things, she traveled to the set ten days earlier and watched all three parts again with her film partner Jannik Schüemann (29), who plays Emperor Franz.
The preparation was definitely worth it. As the modern imperial couple, the two convince critics and viewers alike.

“In the old film adaptations, an image of women is shown that is no longer relevant today. Today women can no longer identify with that, ”continues Devenport.
The new Sisi is for entertainment, but maybe she can help change the image of women, according to the actress.
Biggest Difference? “My Sisi is more complex. She is cheeky and is allowed to make mistakes. “
So is Devenport going to be the new Romy Schneider? Quite possible.
After all, around two and a half million viewers tuned in to the first part. In addition, the remake has already been sold to several countries around the world such as Brazil, France, Greece, Turkey and Hungary.
And: in 2022 a second “Sisi” season is to be created. So it goes on.
