Vijayalakshmi is a resident of Mittaputhur, Salem. Her husband Venkatesh has been working for a deep well construction company in South Africa. While her husband was away working, Vijayalakshmi and her sister Saraswati’s husband Kumaran fell in love. This information was revealed to Venkatesh who was in South Africa.

It is said that Kumaran had personally picked up Venkatesh, who had arrived in Coimbatore by air on the 10th to return to his hometown, and the two had been drinking together. Following this, Venkatesh went to see his wife and got into an argument with her over a fake relationship. It is learned that Venkatesh was killed when Kumaran hit him with an iron bar during a confrontation between him and Venkatesh.
To cover up the incident, Kumaran and Venkatesh’s wife Vijayalakshmi threw stones at the body and threw it in a dilapidated well in Mittaputhur area. However, as the murder could not be kept secret from relatives, Kumaran and Vijayalakshmi surrendered to the Periya Puthur village administration officer. Following this, Grama Niladhari Officer Pushpa lodged a complaint at the Alagapuram Police Station.

Based on the complaint, the police took the two surrenders to the scene and recovered Venkatesh’s decomposed body from the well. A case was registered against the two and they were sent to court custody. The arrest of a woman and her fianc who killed their estranged husband and threw him into a well has caused a stir in the area.
