Los Mossos d’Esquadra They arrested six men this Thursday, between 23 and 46 years old, for the damage caused by the invasion of the Espanyol field last May 14, during the celebration of the League title by Barça.
At the end of the match, the field was invaded by a hundred followers of the most radical sector of RCD Espanyol, causing damage worth 32,110.74 euros, according to the Mossos note. That day there was an attendance of 27,000 spectators.
The investigators have confirmed that, although all of the radicals did not come from the cheering stands, it was from this point that the rest were “initiated and incited” to jump onto the field and “intentionally cause” damage to the stadium facilities. and also to television cameras.
Among the fans who carried out the jump, many were covered with balaclavas and confronted the venue’s security guards and threw several objects.
The invasion also caused Mossos agents to jump onto the field to protect the players and the Barça technical team, who, spurred on by Ronald Araujo, dismantled the euphoric circle they had formed and started running towards the locker room tunnel.
No member of Barça or the local team came into contact with the fans who had spread out on the field in a violent manner thanks to the quick intervention of the Mossos and the private security guards who prevented them from accessing the interior of the facilities, cutting off the mouth of the tunnel.

Five months later, investigators have arrested six of the rioters. Of them, two were located in Sant Boi de Llobregat, one in Sant Joan Despí, another in Lliçà de Vall, one more in Barcelona and the rest in Sant Cugat del Vallès.

According to the Mossos, none of them have a record of crimes related to violence in the world of sports, and neither do they belong to ultra groups. The investigation is ongoing and new arrests are not ruled out.
Furthermore, due to the invasion of the field, the Mossos have opened fifty sanctioning procedures – administrative level – against violence, racism, xenophobia and intolerance in sport.
