17 tonnes of ration rice was smuggled in a lorry in Pallathur area. It was recaptured by the public.

The ration rice bags, which were stored at a place near Pallathur police station, were loaded into a lorry and transported to Karur. When the public came to know about this, they caught the lorry transporting ration rice in the valley. They then informed the Pallathur police and the district food smuggling unit police. Authorities rushed to the spot and found 17 tonnes of ration rice being smuggled to Karur. Police are investigating truck driver Mani.
The food smuggling unit police have registered a case and are conducting an investigation. The lorry and the smuggled ration rice bags were confiscated.
