According to the Meteorological Service’s forecast, from tonight (Tuesday) until Thursday, stormy weather is expected in the Jerusalem area, accompanied by precipitation and low temperatures, and it may even snow in the high places in the central mountains, in the city of Jerusalem and its surroundings.
Chance of snow in Jerusalem starting tonight
The Jerusalem District Police is preparing to provide the best service to the road users on the access roads to and from the city of Jerusalem, within the city and in the nearby localities. In recent days, police forces have been working to deal with dozens of weather disasters across the city and assisted residents and road users along with the local authority and other bodies involved in the matter.
The following are guidelines and recommendations for the public:
- It is advisable to forgo unnecessary trips or hikes in streams and areas that may be flooded in the face of inclement weather.
- Strong winds can lead to the collapse of trees, pillars, etc., as well as the flying of various objects. Any such hazard must be reported to the authorities as soon as possible.
- The travel speed must be adjusted to the road conditions and significantly slowed down when entering curves and making sharp turns.
- When the road is wet, the braking distance increases. It is therefore necessary to maintain a greater distance from the vehicle in front, and to drive slowly and carefully especially when there is a cold on the road due to the danger of slipping.
- Concentrate on driving and avoid distractions with an emphasis on using the cell phone.
- Pay attention to pedestrians – when the weather is rainy, it is more difficult to spot pedestrians and stop in time if necessary. Travel should be slowed down in residential areas and pedestrians given the right of way.
- The steering wheel must be held with both hands, as entering the puddle with the vehicle, and potholes hidden by the accumulation of water on the road – can cause a sudden deviation of the vehicle.
- Before entering the vehicle: It is mandatory to check that the vehicle tires are in good condition and with the required air pressure. Check that the wipers are in good condition and not damaged. Care must be taken to clean the car windshields in order to provide good visibility conditions for the driver, as well as to clean the front and rear car headlights – in order to see and show accordingly.
