EXPERT’S OPINION – According to Hervé Fernandez, ynecologist-obstetrician, Bicêtre Hospital, Paris-Saclay University, several decisions finally focus on the issue of precariousness and fragility related to menstruation.

Spain recently formalized menstrual leave for women suffering from “impairing menstruation”, a first in Europe. The French Prime Minister, Elisabeth Borne, has just announced the next reimbursement of reusable periodic protection available without a prescription, in pharmacies, for all young women under 25 years of age. Finally, these decisions emphasize the issue of precariousness and fragility linked to rules.

The importance of menstrual pain was, from the middle of the previous decade, taken into account at the instigation of the National College of French Gynecologists and Obstetricians (CNGOF), with the publication in 2017 of new clinical practice recommendations and the creation endometriosis care pathways.
