An award for innovative projects created by Guatemalans

He National Innovation Award 2024a recognition granted annually by the National Secretariat of Science and Technology Senacitcelebrates the creativity of those who drive change in Guatemala through innovation, from individuals, to companies, institutions and organizations.

Since 2013, this award has highlighted projects that have presented creative solutions in fields such as science, technology, health and education. At an event held on Friday, April 18, Senacyt officially opened the call and shared details about the theme for 2024.

Details of the call for the 2024 National Innovation Award

Under the theme of Climate Change and Sustainabilitythe call for the National Innovation Award 2024 has opened its doors to all Guatemalans who wish to share projects that address these issues from different perspectives. From university students to entrepreneurs and professionals, everyone has the opportunity to participate in this search for innovative solutions to the most pressing challenges of our time.

People of all ages and backgrounds can participate, as long as their initiatives have a significant impact in Guatemala and can be scalable at a regional level. Whether from home or abroad, everyone is invited to submit their proposals. In addition, children and young people are also invited to participate in the junior category.

The call is open from April 18 to July 15, 2024. Those interested must complete the registration form available on the Senacyt website You are allowed to submit as many projects as you wish in various categories.

The “Junior” category is especially notable, as it recognizes the participation and creativity of children and adolescents in the construction of innovative ideas. Educational establishments interested in participating must support their students in developing proposals that contribute to improving the educational context in which they operate. Forming groups of 3 to 5 students, who are between 10 and 15 years old, and supported by a teacher, young people will have the opportunity to present their ideas and analysis on the challenges of the educational environment.

Some of the projects that have been awarded this award are the information service ALMA (Automated Medical Logistics Assistant), Bitmec, a digital health platform, the prepaid solar initiative King Enery, the pedagogical tool Yago App.
