The company Sodeca, dedicated to the manufacture and design of fans, will invest 6 million euros for expand the logistics warehouse in Ripoll and will create between 25 and 30 new jobs in the coming years. The company announced this Friday the details of the second phase of expansion of the warehouse, which will double its production capacity. The works will start after the summer and will last 9 months. The general manager of Sodeca, Josep Font, has explained that the expansion of the warehouse has a triple aim: double production, unify the warehouses they have spread over different towns and reduce the carbon footprint. The expansion of the warehouse will be 5,000 m2 with a height of 15 meters and capacity for 10,000 pallets.

Ripoll gains weight in Sodeca’s business strategy with this announcement new warehouse logistics in the Barricona grounds, right next to what they have already built. In 2018, the first plant was inaugurated in Ripoll. Until then, the production center and offices were located in Sant Quirze de Besora (Osona) where it currently still has a production center. The lack of space and the desire to continue growing made the company decide to also set up in Ripollès.

This new construction, which will come into operation in 2024, will allow the facilities, which until now were used as warehouses, to be used for productive plant. The general manager, Josep Font, has explained that the fact that they have more space to produce will allow them to double production. In this way, he has progressed, in the long term the increase in the staff may be 40 or 45 more people.

Font has detailed that with the expansion they will be able to unify the warehouses in Ripoll, making it the main production center, and this will allow them to “reduce many trucks that go up and down all day”. “Today we are working with different warehouses located in different locations and this involves a lot of truck movement, a fact that is not efficient enough,” notes Font, adding that the unification of the warehouses will also allow them to reduce their carbon footprint.

The new building will also be built with energy efficiency criteria. In addition, Font has advanced that they will place 250 solar panels on the roof, which add to the 250 already in operation. This, he assured, will allow the company to operate “for many hours of the day” with 100% renewable energy. In total, there will be 1,500 square meters of solar panels.

The company’s future prospects are good. Source has pointed out that the pandemic greatly increased the demand for ventilation devices, one of its specialties. However, Font has recalled that Sodeca is “very strong” globally in issues smoke extraction in case of fire or in ventilators for road tunnels. “We have a very wide catalog,” he emphasized.

Sodeca Group currently has 600 employees, 7 production centers and 12 marketing subsidiaries. With a presence on five continents, the group closed 2022 with a turnover of 120 million, 20% more than in 2021. The forecast for 2023 is to reach 125 million.
