Spain attaches particular interest to Morocco as a “strategic bridge” between Africa and Europe (Senegalese expert)
Dakar – Spain places particular interest in Morocco as a “strategic bridge” between Africa and Europe, said Senegalese researcher and expert in Morocco-Africa relations, Bakkary Sambe.
The working visit to Morocco by the President of the Spanish government is likely to consolidate the ties of cooperation and partnership between the Kingdom and Spain, two countries linked by history and geography and called to meet common geostrategic challenges, said Mr. Sambe in a statement to MAP.
The regional director of the “Timbuktu Institute” think tank, based in Dakar, recalled that this trip comes one year after the 12th session of the Morocco-Spain High Level Meeting which gave a broader dimension to the “strategic partnership” between the two Kingdoms.
According to Mr. Sambe, Spain attaches great importance to the development of its relations with Morocco, specifying that this “renewed” relationship between the two countries makes it possible to “rethink Euro-African relations to which it opens new perspectives.”
Close cooperation between the two countries is essential for the redefinition of shared priorities, he said, adding that it is also a condition for integrated development both in the Mediterranean and on the Atlantic coast, called to experience new momentum thanks to the Royal initiative aimed at promoting access of the Sahel States to the Ocean.
The President of the Government made a working visit to Morocco this Wednesday, during which he was received in audience by HM King Mohammed VI.
