President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) responded to the call of Cardinal Juan Sandoval Íñiguezwho asked Do not vote for Morena in the 2024 elections next June 2nd.
Yesterday, April 25, through a video broadcast on networks, the cardinal Juan Sandoval Íñiguez made a warning call to the population before what he described as “communism” in Morena.
Without giving further context about the countries he referred to, the cardinal compared the situation in Mexico with that of Cuba, Venezuela or Nicaragua:
“Communism is coming with all the evils that it brings with it, lack of freedom, the economy is ruined, religion is being fought and people are impoverished like Cuba or Venezuela, which was a very rich town, a Nicaragua. ”

The cardinal assured in the same video that on June 2 for the 2024 elections “There can be violence, there can be theft of ballot boxes and similar things.”

AMLO declined to respond to the call Cardinal Juan Sandoval Íñiguez during his morning conference today, April 26, in which he was questioned about the issue. However, López Obrador considered that “There is no point” to answer to the representative of the Church.
