Special indigenization announced in Jizan, Saudi Arabia

Jeddah: Special indigenization has been announced in Jizan, Saudi Arabia. The ministry has suggested that 70 percent of the natives should be appointed in the specified jobs within six months. The special order for Jizan is part of the nationalization plan.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has issued new indigenization regulations exclusively for Jizan. According to the order, 70 per cent of the total workforce in jobs at sales outlets, advertising agency counters, photo studios and laptop computer repair shops should be indigenous. Also the same provision is applicable for booking offices and supervision work in wedding hall, hall, wedding and event establishment. But this does not apply to those doing uniform work like cleaning, loading and unloading work.

At the same time, there is a provision that the number of such workers should not exceed 20 percent of the total number of workers in the establishment. In the order issued by the ministry, it is specified that 50 per cent of jobs related to operation and maintenance of passenger ships and related jobs should be indigenized. The first phase will be implemented after six months and the second phase after 12 months. The Ministry also released a guide detailing the procedures for implementing the scheme. Earlier, as part of the regional indigenization plan, indigenization was announced in a few jobs only in Madinah. After that, a special project has been announced in Jizan as well.
