President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has declared a state of emergency in Sri Lanka.

The country is facing a severe fiscal deficit due to the Corona tourism freeze, falling foreign exchange, inflation, rising Himalayan prices of essential commodities, skyrocketing petrol and diesel prices, power outages and a severe economic crisis.

The people who raised the war flag against President Gotabhaya tried to besiege the Presidential Palace in Mirihana. More than 50 people, including police and civilians, were injured in the clashes between police and civilians. Public property was smashed.

President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has declared a state of emergency across the country as the protests continue. The Chancellor has also ordered the military to arrest suspects who pose a threat to the regime without trial.

Police have re-imposed curfew in various parts of Colombo.
