European automaker Stellantis reported a 4 billion euro cash outflow in the third quarter of 2026 alongside a modest rise in operating income, as Chief Executive Antonio Filosa pressed forward with a broad turnaround strategy intended to restore profitability and lift annual cash generation by 2027.
European car giant Stellantis faced a net cash drain of 4 billion euros, equivalent to approximately $4.5 billion, during the three months ending September 30, 2026. Despite the heavy capital outflow, the company posted an adjusted earnings before interest and taxes of €256 million, marking a significant increase from €90 million during the same period a year earlier according to the CNBC report. That operating profit topped a consensus forecast of €191 million compiled from a Reuters poll of analysts as reported by RTÉ.
Net revenue for the quarter remained largely flat at €37.6 billion, representing a 1% gain from the previous year. The company also narrowed its net loss to €453 million, down sharply from a €4.53 billion loss in the prior-year period BigGo Finance detailed. The adjusted operating margin widened by 50 basis points to reach 0.7% according to financial data.
Stellantis Targets 6 Billion Euros in Run-Rate Efficiencies
Chief Executive Antonio Filosa stated that the group-wide Value Creation Program has gained momentum since its launch earlier in the year.

Our Value Creation Program has ramped up rapidly, with positive contributions being recognised in the quarter, and we remain on track to implement at least 40% of the total €6 billion in run-rate efficiencies by the end of this year.
Antonio Filosa, CEO of Stellantis
The automaker anticipates fourth-quarter savings in the mid-hundreds of millions of euros
range, or approximately €500 million noted RTÉ, which would double the cost reductions realized during the third quarter. Citi analysts described these efficiency targets as the only obvious support to Stellantis adjusted operating margin recovery
reported Euronext Markets.
Investors holding shares over the long haul have already endured a 2025 net loss totaling €22.3 billion along with a halted dividend for 2026. Leadership intends to decrease Italian production for 2026 by roughly 10%, reducing Mirafiori output to about 450,000 units while sharply cutting hybrid Fiat 500 manufacturing down to 60,000 from the previous 100,000.
Regional Shipment Declines and Strategic Restructuring
Total consolidated shipments for the quarter fell 1% to 1.286 million units BigGo Finance noted, driven largely by inventory adjustments in North America. Shipments in North America dropped 12% to 357,000 units as recorded in financial filings, a reduction management attributed to planned production shutdowns affecting Jeep models including the Grand Cherokee and Compass. Despite the volume drop, North America swung to an adjusted operating profit of €64 million from a loss of €475 million a year prior according to BigGo Finance.
Production reductions also hit European facilities. The company trimmed output at plants in Italy and paused operations at French factories in Rennes, Sochaux, and Mulhouse amid EV battery shortages reported StocksToTrade. Labor tensions added further friction as Canadian union Unifor authorized strike action, halting Windsor assembly output noted the same financial analysis. Supply chain vulnerabilities are underscored by brief pauses at the Rennes, Sochaux, and Mulhouse facilities stemming from shortages of long-range EV batteries.

Guidance and Future Corporate Actions
Stellantis reaffirmed its full-year 2026 guidance, projecting low-single-digit adjusted operating margins and mid-single-digit revenue growth according to company releases. Management maintained its forecast for returning to positive industrial free cash flow in 2027 reported CNBC.
As part of its ongoing FaSTLAne 2030 turnaround strategy highlighted by CNBC, the company announced plans to unveil a dedicated business strategy for its struggling Maserati luxury brand on December 10 noted RTÉ. Meanwhile, shares rose between 3% and 6% in European trading following the earnings release reported Euronext Markets, even as the stock trades near historic lows following credit rating downgrades from S&P and Moody’s earlier in the year noted 24/7 Wall St. and AOL. Vulnerabilities in its financial standing take center stage as the primary risk, following credit rating reductions that placed Stellantis at BBB- with S&P and Baa3 with Moody’s.
