A really good Bluetooth box is not something you can take lightly. The best one weighs more than 14 kilos.
This is shown by a current comparison from Stiftung Warentest. And the price of the test winner can also make things difficult for buyers.

“All good speakers weigh more than a kilo,” summarizes Stiftung Warentest. “But the real colossi leave the best impression.”
They weigh around seven kilos or more, are usually more expensive, but are also more versatile and clearly sound better than the lightweight ones. This should hardly come as a surprise to music fans: “Good sound needs volume. The light ones have problems with low tones. They lack bass, so they often sound tinny and limp and distort at high volumes.”
The heavyweights deliver a powerful, balanced sound with lively dynamics and high precision right down to the tonal details.
But: “With their weight of up to 18.3 kilos, they are more suitable for the house, the garden or the mobile home than for afternoons in the park,” the experts say.

Heavyweight test winner
For the comparison, Stiftung Warentest divided the devices into two weight groups – over and under 2.5 kilograms. Among the easy ones, only two achieved an overall grade of good:

► LG Xboom Go DXG7Q for 158 euros. “The LG box is not only the cheapest, but also by far the lightest; it weighs 1.1 kilos.”

Tip: “Also cheap, but slightly heavier at three to four kilos: Klipsch Gig XL for 232 euros and Sony’s SRS-XG300 for 206 euros.”
According to Warentest, the top spot goes to a model from the Berlin manufacturer Teufel: “The Rockster Air 2 impresses with its incredibly good sound and is the best wireless Bluetooth box we have ever tested.” At 14.3 kilos, it is incredibly heavy. And expensive: “At 650 euros, it is at the upper end of the price range.”

According to Stiftung Warentest, anyone who prefers a light, transportable box despite the sound advantages of the giants will find a real bargain in this group: “Ikea’s Vappeby weighs 1.7 kilos, just misses the quality rating of good and costs just 80 euros.”

According to the report, the device is also available without a battery for operation via a power cable, for 60 euros. “Apart from the Teufel, it is the only box in the test with a replaceable battery – good for sustainability.”
