One person died in the traffic accident that occurred in the kilometer 54 of the Palín highway, Escuintla, on the night of Monday, May 29. Transit authorities confirmed that they are working to remove the vehicles.
According to the Volunteer Firefighters, the accident occurred after 10:30 a.m. between two trucks. When the rescuers arrived at the scene, they identified one deceased, several injured, and reported the pilot of one of the trucks as missing. “A traffic accident was recorded at kilometer 54 of the Palín highway, Escuintla, where the driver of a heavy vehicle has disappeared,” the lifeguards indicated.
Rubén Darío Jor Max, spokesman for the General Directorate of Road Protection (Provial), explained that they are coordinating work to remove the vehicles involved in the accident. “Traffic accident at kilometer 54 in the Palín-Escuintla area. The left lane with a southbound direction is confirmed to be blocked,” added the spokesperson.
