A powerful earthquake in Indonesia sent panicked people into the streets.
A powerful earthquake occurred yesterday in Bengulu province in the western part of Indonesia. It registered 5.3 points on the Richter scale. The earthquake was 18 km under the sea. The US Geological Survey reported that it was centered at depth.
The earthquake, which occurred at 5.41 am local live, lasted for a few seconds. Then buildings including houses shook terribly. Panicked people ran out of the buildings and took refuge in the streets.
However, there were no reports of any casualties or serious injuries or large-scale material damage due to this earthquake. Earlier, two days ago, a 7.6-magnitude earthquake struck the Tanimbar Islands of Indonesia and a tsunami warning was issued.
