Chennai: Defying the ban, students watched a BBC documentary on Prime Minister Modi on their laptops at Chennai University.

A branch of the Students’ Union of India (SFI) organized a screening of a BBC documentary on Prime Minister Modi today (Jan 27) at Madras University. But the Chennai University administration banned the screening of the documentary. SFI condemned this. However, despite the ban, an event to watch a BBC documentary on Prime Minister Modi was held at the Chennai University campus.

Under the leadership of Indian Students Union State Secretary K. Niruban Chakraborty, branch members and students watched a BBC documentary on Prime Minister Modi through their laptops in an open space in the university campus.

In the meantime, “We will advance the screening of BBC’s documentary and dialogue on it in front of left-wing and democratic organizations at all possible places throughout Tamil Nadu,” said K. In the last year 2002 there were riots in Gujarat. Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister of the state then. The BBC, the British government media, has released a 2-part documentary on the riots.
