The National Civil Police (PNC) confirmed that Roberto Mauricio Villalta is the subject who appears in a video that went viral on social networks attacking a girl, in the Sagrado Corazón market.
“This guy is a pedophile who took advantage of the fact that the victim has a speech disability. In addition to the videos that were spread on social networks, we have collected other videos from nearby cameras and multiple witnesses,” the police authorities detailed after his arrest.
Villalta worked as a barber and his modus operandi was to go through the market observing children and trying to touch them when the parents were careless.
In 2014 he had already been captured for sexually assaulting another girl, but the previous judicial system set him free.
He was later arrested for attacking a woman, but a court determined that he only received a restraining order, then he was captured because he breached that restraining order. He also has other records for: theft, threats and extortion.
Thanks to citizen complaints and coordination between security institutions, his capture was effective before his criminal escalation continued and he could even murder a boy or girl, as happened a few months ago in the case in La Campanera. “This time he will not return to the streets,” stated the Police.
