Today I would like to talk about good things. But I decided not to! Let’s talk about the 2023 season and the possibilities of Internacional in Libertadores, in the Brazilian Championship and in the Copa do Brasil. But, I’ll warn you right away, if you’re an optimistic fan, it might be better to come back here tomorrow.

Starting with Libertadores, we know that Inter has a history of respect in the tournament, with titles and great performances. However, since 2015, this has been in the past. In 2023, the situation is a little different. With a squad without major signings, it’s hard to imagine that the team will make it past the group stage. Despite the management having since November last year to plan the season, we still don’t have a complete squad and with players that can be promptly cast in case any of the starters have a problem. The question that remains is: who are the starters besides Alan Patrick? If the team doesn’t gear up in time, perhaps the biggest emotion we’ll have in Libertadores is over and it was time for the group draw.

In the Brazilian Championship, Inter arrives with the objective of at least remaining in the first division. Forty-five points is our current target, anything beyond that is profit. With the co-brother’s relegation still very much in their minds, the fans know that if there’s one thing the board likes, it’s not letting the club fail alone. Grenalize everything! Thus, any position above the relegation zone becomes comfortable. The further away from the zone the better (contrary to the idea of some friends, but this would be another zone). With the teams on the Rio-São Paulo axis getting stronger and with high investments, it is quite possible that if we don’t start doing our part, Inter will be further and further away from winning the championship. But what’s another year for someone who’s been waiting 44 years, right?

Finally, the Copa do Brasil. Ah, the Copa do Brasil. This achievement is still fresh in our trophy room! It’s only been 31 years since we won the last one (which was also the first and only one to date). Always a hope for those who suffer from short casts! The consecrated knockout is a real title shot. But, again, Inter arrives with a limited squad and without high expectations until then. Who knows, based on the hardship, the team will be able to pass the stages and reach the final. We know that the management has bolder sporting goals, as they set it on paper as an objective to advance to the quarterfinals or, who knows, to the semifinals. But, let’s face it, the most likely thing is that Inter will be eliminated by some team from the interior of the Northeast or Midwest.

Anyway, folks, I’m not here to discourage anyone. I just believe it’s best to go easy on expectations. Cold beer in a glass and a heart exam up to date never hurt anyone. Of course, we will cheer and support Inter in every game. But if we don’t get great results in 2023, that’s fine. The important thing is to keep the passion for the team, to have an excuse to drink every week and to continue supporting, whatever the situation. Who knows, in 2024, we don’t have a complete cast and be surprised by winning a title? Until then, let’s follow and cheer.

Today I’m crazier than Mario Fernandes! (and thus a new saying is born)

Jokes aside, all the best to Mario Fernandes. May things be right and go the best way.

Good or bad, he had the audacity to ask for the cap and not do like some and others who walk the field in search of the perfect contract termination.
