A Buzz at Murphy’s: Fans React to Super Bowl LX
Local sports enthusiasts gathered to cheer on their teams, with reactions ranging from disappointment to hopeful anticipation for the future.
- Super Bowl LX brought fans together at Murphy’s in Cromwell.
- Patriots fans expressed optimism despite a loss, citing the potential of rookie quarterback Drake Maye.
- The halftime show featuring Bad Bunny proved popular with some attendees.
- Seahawks fans celebrated a return to the Super Bowl stage after a decade-long absence.
- Jets fans voiced their frustration with the team’s current situation.
“The vibe is right here. This is great,” said Ray Minor of Newington, capturing the energetic atmosphere. Many anticipated a closely contested game, with Minor predicting a “four-point game” and “a lot of fun.”
However, the game proved to be one-sided, offering little joy for Patriots fans hoping for another championship. Despite moments of inspiration, a Super Bowl comeback wasn’t in the cards.
“The Patriots have Drake Maye. That’s all that matters. We’re going to get there eventually,” declared Brian Condon of Newington, maintaining a positive outlook for the team’s future.
For some, the entertainment value of the game itself was overshadowed by the halftime performance. “I loved it. Bad Bunny. I think that was great. I loved it. I loved it,” exclaimed Matthew Goldman of Newington, expressing enthusiastic approval.
A small contingent of Seahawks fans relished the opportunity to see their team back on the Super Bowl stage. “I’m feeling great. It’s been a decade since the Seahawks got to the Super Bowl. Last time they went there it was about 2015, and it was against the Patriots,” shared Tracy Jimenez of Manchester, recalling a previous Super Bowl appearance.
The outcome was particularly disheartening for Jets fans, who couldn’t help but wonder what might have been with Sam Darnold at quarterback. “Disappointed because we’re the Jets,” lamented Hank Williams.
Despite the Seahawks’ victory, Patriots fans remained resolute in their belief in the team’s potential. “Good job by the Seahawks. Patriots are going to bring it. Let’s go Patriots,” Condon added, echoing the sentiment of many in attendance.
Marie Gaffney of Newington summed up the experience for many, stating, “We come here every Sunday during the season and the Super Bowl is the pinnacle of the season.”
