Last month, the police arrested Duan Sabadeen (45), a son of Nallavansa from Marathana area of ​​Colombo, Sri Lanka, who was staying illegally in Periyapattinam area near Ramanathapuram. His passport has expired due to overstaying. Due to this, he got caught when he got a passport from a person from Panaikulam at a fake address. He came in 2010 and has obtained government documents after staying illegally for 13 years.

Similarly, Muhammadu Basil (38) hails from Jaffna, Sri Lanka. He stayed in a house in Thondi area and got government documents and married a woman. Whenever he returned from visiting Sri Lanka, mysterious persons visited him. During a raid at his house, the Special Branch police seized the drug. There is a fear that many foreigners including Sri Lankans may be staying illegally in Ramanathapuram district. There has been a demand that the district police should conduct a detailed investigation and take strict action.

Those who come in this way are being registered and monitored in the camp through proper register. It has been revealed that people who arrived years ago and stay without documents are involved in illegal activities. Due to this, an action investigation will be carried out in collaboration with the revenue department in consultation with the district collector whether foreigners including Sri Lanka are staying without proper documents. Accordingly, the case against foreigners will also be examined and a detailed investigation will be conducted to see if the relevant persons are staying there. The public can inform the district police if they come to know about any suspicious persons staying in their area for many years.
