State Secretary of the Marxist Communist Party K. Balakrishnan has said that the Supreme Court should cancel the appointment of Justice Victoria Kelari and protect the dignity of the judiciary. In this regard, he has said in his Twitter post:-
“Victoria Kelari, a BJP executive who has been making hate speech against Christians and Muslims on religious grounds among the people of India, has today been appointed as a Madras High Court judge. This legal action has affected the faith in the judiciary.
Judges may have personal political views. But will the person who spoke hate speech against the Constitution act to protect the values of the Constitution?
Lawyers and political parties were rightfully up in arms against the collegium decision. The current Supreme Court has taken up the case in this regard. But at this stage the BJP union government has confirmed the appointment.
Therefore, keeping in mind the seriousness of the problem, we expect the Supreme Court to quash this appointment and protect the dignity of the judiciary,” he said.
