Surprising: Tens of thousands of amnesties for the hijab protestors

Today (Monday), the head of the judiciary in Iran, Mohsani Azhi, surprised during his speech at the meeting of the Supreme Council of the Judiciary, that in light of the month of Ramadan – he is opening tens of thousands of additional amnesties for those arrested in riots as part of the hijab protest.

So far, 82,000 people have been granted amnesty, and the judiciary says this number may increase. Of these – 22,000 received amnesty for riots who were convicted or received amnesty before they were sentenced. Most of these people have been in prison, and most of them got out of it with a suspended order, or their prison has not yet been closed.

Besides the rioters in the Hijab protest, more than 60,000 other people received amnesty for various offenses, of which 25,000 were released from prison. Also, the sentence of 34 thousand people was reduced.

Convicted and accused in cases of violence and robbery were not included in the amnesty.
