Suryakumar will definitely reach a good position

On the occasion of the last one-day cricket match against Australia, Indian team’s head coach Rahul Dravid said in an interview to reporters in Chennai yesterday:-

The World Cup is the biggest tournament. Happening in 9 cities in India. As we have to play in different weather conditions, we are experimenting with various changes in the playing XI. The team needs players to adapt to the situation. We have identified around 17-18 players for the Indian squad for the World Cup. Some of them have to recover from injuries.

Unfortunately, Shreyas Iyer was unable to play in the series due to injury. He’s probably been given more chances in the 4th line lately. Now that he is gone, Suryakumar is playing in that order. Suryakumar was ‘duck-out’ in the first two games but not really worried about his form. He was dismissed in just two good balls. Suryakumar Yadav has played a lot of 20 over cricket.

He has played 10 years in IPL alone. At the same time he never played much one-day cricket. He is learning a lot in 50 over cricket now. So it is important to give him enough opportunities and be patient. Surely he will reach a good position.”
