Swiss authorities launched an intensive manhunt across the canton of Aargau and neighboring Germany as investigators searched for one or more suspects.

The annual techno gathering, promoted by organizers as the largest rave in north-western Switzerland, turned fatal shortly after musical performances concluded. The incident unfolded on the grounds of the Aargau Racing Club in the Schachen district of Aarau, located about 46 kilometers west of Zurich. Around 3,500 attendees had originally gathered for the party, which ran from Saturday afternoon until 2:00 a.m. on Sunday.
When the final tracks stopped playing around 2:30 a.m., approximately 100 people remained on site. Numerous shots were fired into a large group of remaining revellers. Witnesses initially mistook the sharp bursts of gunfire for celebratory fireworks before realizing the danger and scrambling for cover.

Revellers sought shelter beneath the DJ booth and behind refrigerators, according to surviving witnesses who spoke with local media. One young woman was struck in the back by a bullet while hiding and succumbed to her injuries at the scene despite emergency resuscitation efforts.

Police confirmed that all six casualties are residents of Switzerland. The 22-year-old woman who died was pronounced dead at the horse-racing track. Four men and another woman, aged between 24 and 27, suffered injuries and were transported to hospitals with conditions varying from minor cuts to severe trauma. Authorities withheld the names of the victims in accordance with strict Swiss privacy regulations.
The emergency response drew massive resources to the capital of Aargau canton. Police officers, firefighters, and multiple emergency medical services flooded the area, supported by a cantonal disaster-response unit, the Argus police special unit, and a Swiss military Super Puma helicopter. Performers who took the stage during the festival also voiced their grief. Swiss DJ Tekibo posted on social media that the tragedy left him heartbroken, emphasizing that techno events should serve as sanctuaries for freedom and safety rather than violence.
