For the second time after 2017, Thorsten Schröder (54) successfully fought his way through the Ironman in Hawaii. As the 72nd of 387 starters in his age group, the “Tagesschau” spokesman crossed the finish line at the weekend. Unsteady on his feet, but overjoyed.
3.86 km swim in the Pacific, 180 km on the bike and a marathon (42.195 km) at 30 degrees. Schröder’s time: 11:05:45 hours.

The Hamburger had qualified as one of 500 German starters and had been training for this moment since November 2020. Triathlon has been his sport for 25 years.
