The Tamil Nadu government has announced that the 13th day after Diwali will be observed as a public holiday. This decision aims to facilitate the celebration of Diwali by allowing students, their parents, teachers, and government officials to return to their hometowns.

In light of Diwali falling on November 12, 2023, all government offices, public sector institutions, schools, colleges, and educational institutions throughout Tamil Nadu will remain closed on November 13, 2023. This holiday has been granted in the best interest of the welfare of the aforementioned individuals.

The government of Tamil Nadu has also directed private companies to observe this holiday. However, to compensate for the holiday, November 18, 2023, has been designated as a working day for these companies.
