In this regard, the Government has stated that this notice applies to all employees of government and government-aided educational institutions, constitutional and legal entities, government agencies, local bodies, boards, commissions, associations and all public sector entities.

According to Kottayam sources, the DMK has decided to reduce the retirement age to 58 for government employees based on petitions received by the Chief Minister after the government took over.

The order also said that the order lowering the retirement age of government employees to 58 is likely to come into effect from January 1 next year, i.e. 1.1.2022. However, local government sources said that in the current financial crisis situation, retirees will not be given immediate cash benefits and the decision to issue a government bond in return is under consideration and may be monetized after a certain period of time.
