Chennai Meteorological Department has informed that heavy rain will occur in six districts of Tamil Nadu today.

The notification said, “Due to variation in speed of westerly wind, light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning may occur at a few places in Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Dindigul, Tenkasi, Theni, North Tamil Nadu, Puduwai and Karaikal today (06.08.2022). Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Theni, Dindigul, Tirupur and Tenkasi districts are likely to receive heavy rain at one or two places.

07.08.2022: Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning at one or two places over Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Dindigul, Tenkasi, Theni, North Tamil Nadu, Puduwai and Karaikal.

On 08.08.2022, Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Dindigul, Tenkasi, Theni, North Tamil Nadu, Puduvai and Karaikal will receive light to moderate rain at one or two places.

09.08.2022, 10.08.2022: Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Western Ghats and adjoining districts may experience light to moderate rain at a couple of places.

As for Chennai, the sky will be generally cloudy for the next 24 hours. Few parts of the city may experience light/moderate rain. The maximum temperature will be around 33-34 degree Celsius and the minimum temperature will be around 26-27 degree Celsius.

The sky will remain partly cloudy for the next 48 hours. Light/moderate rain with thundershower may occur at few parts of the city. The maximum temperature will be around 34-35 degree Celsius and the minimum temperature will be around 26-27 degree Celsius.

From 08-08-2022 to 10-08-2022: Strong winds of 45 to 55 kmph are likely to occur over Kumari Sea areas, Gulf of Mannar and adjacent South Tamil Nadu coastal areas and South West Bay of Bengal adjacent to Sri Lanka.

Strong wind speed of 45 to 55 kmph is likely to occur over Lakshadweep, Kerala coastal areas and adjoining South East Arabian Sea areas.

Fishermen are advised not to go to these areas on the above mentioned days.
