Tirupur: More than ten members of the Tamil Nadu Power Board Janata Labor Union gathered and submitted a petition at the grievance redressal meeting held at the Tirupur Collector’s office yesterday:

The field workers in Tamil Nadu Power Board were made permanent on the basis of the union and board contract as per the court order.

In Tirupur district, out of 21 petitions filed individually and in groups on behalf of the Tamil Nadu Janata Labor Union, since 2013, a total of 107 have applied for permanent contract labor.

The hearing on the petitions was concluded and a judgment was pending. A petition was filed on behalf of the workers seeking an expedited order for permanent employment. After that Tirupur district assistant commissioner of labor department called us and talked to us.

He has sent an order to the workers by registered post stating that the petition has been dismissed without conducting any investigation. The Assistant Commissioner of Labor Department should be relieved from the investigation of this case and ordered to be investigated by another officer. This is stated in the petition.

Assistant Labor Commissioner Malarkodi said, ‘Electricity contract workers do not have proper documents of 480 days of continuous work.

He does not appear properly for investigation. That is why the petition for permanent employment has been dismissed. If there are relevant documents, an appeal can be made in the ICourt’, he said.
