Overtourism is worrying, the housing crisis is exacerbating and the pressure on Airbnb is increasing. The Minister of Finance, Bruno Le Maire, has just said he is “favorable” to a reform of the taxation applied to the rental of furnished tourist accommodation, due to significant “windfall effects”.
Remarks supported at the beginning of the week by Olivia Grégoire in “Le Figaro”. The Minister of SMEs and Tourism pointed out that “there was already a proposal for a transpartisan law, the examination of which is scheduled for the fall”. And on Tuesday, it was the rapporteur for the budget in the Assembly, the deputy Jean-René Cazeneuve, who said he wanted to go further than this text within the framework of the finance bill.
