On Monday, May 13, the National Insurance Service (Bituach Leumi) calculated how much money was transferred to Israelis and their families affected by terrorism.

The organization noted that since last year’s Remembrance Day, 834 people have become victims of terrorist attacks, 12 of whom even before the start of the war unleashed by Hamas terrorists on October 7, as a result of which IDF soldiers launched the military operation “Iron Swords.” In total, 822 civilians were killed during the ongoing hostilities.

From last year’s Memorial Day until today, Bituah Leumi has paid out about 2 billion shekels in benefits to the victims. About 400 million were sent to families who lost their loved ones, more than 1.4 billion shekels to victims of terrorist activities.

According to the data, 201 civilians (excluding military personnel and reservists) became hostages of Hamas terrorists. Subsequently, 106 of them were returned from the Gaza Strip, 30 people were declared dead, and the bodies of seven were returned to Israel for burial. The total number of hostages (counting military personnel) is 132 people, 65 of them are civilians.

Bituach Leumi has already paid out more than 3.1 million shekels to hostages who managed to return home. About 61 million shekels were paid to the families of the abductees in benefits for assistance and reimbursement of expenses.

Kursor wrote earlier that in April of this year, Bituach Leumi paid benefits to the Israelis ahead of schedule.
