Tesla is not affected by the lack of chips and sets a new delivery record – time.news

Tesla tackles global microchip and semiconductor shortage that has hit the automotive industry hard and beyond sales higher than expected in the third quarter of the year, but establishes a new delivery record: 241,300 electric vehicles compared to 139,593 in the same period of 2020.

Breaking the record of half a million in one year

Analysts’ estimates had calculated about 227,000 cars, but the Silicon Valley manufacturer performed better so that it would have no problem reaching the year’s goal of increasing deliveries by more than 50% compared to last year, in which the total of electric cars was nearly half a million. It has currently reached a share of 627 thousand in the first nine months of 2021. Elon Musk himself, the CEO of the US giant, has defined this period as the most intense in terms of deliveries that Tesla has ever had. As for the individual models, in the quarter, there were 232,025 Model 3 and Model Y vehicles, while the Model S and Model X vehicles reached 9,275 units.

Success despite the lack of chips

Despite the hard stop of the supply chain with the shortage of chips, which has limited vehicle production across the global auto industry, leaving buyers with fewer options and negatively impacting sales, the multinational continues to grow and this seems to have surprised Tesla itself. In fact, Musk also pointed out that production problems forced the company to delay deliveries and his service teams had to add parts to vehicles produced earlier in the quarter.
