Immediate actions to reopen after Easter the 1st Nursery School of Ioannina in Lakkomata, which for a week has been relocated to the 3rd Nursery School due to damage found in the metal structure that leads to the entrance of the building, requests the Association of Employees of the OTA of the Prefecture Ioannina.
In fact, as it is known, problems (cracks) are also present in the walls of the yard, in which neighborhood children play in the afternoon hours, without knowing the danger, with the Technical Service of the Municipality identifying the problems after an autopsy on March 20 , without since securing the funds for the restoration project.
“The Directorate of Pre-School Education, obviously rightly decided to relocate, so that there is not the slightest doubt about the metal construction, however no action has been taken to correct the damage since then, resulting in toddlers, infants, teaching and support staff being cramped to operate. The indifference of the municipal authority cannot be justified because of the delay in passing the budget. The issue was known before the budget was passed and no one was interested in including the expense in the budget so that the work could proceed. However, even in the 1st reform of the budget, the expenditure for further studies or repairs was not included”, reports the OTA Employees Association, commenting that this fact proves that the priorities of the municipal authority are not to properly operate the Municipality’s daycare centers, creating the conditions to close kindergartens even in the most central parts of the city.
