The artist Nassio Bayarri dies at the age of 90 after suffering a fall at his home

The Valencian painter, sculptor and poet Ignacio Bayarri, known as Nassio, has passed away this Sunday at the age of 90. This Friday he suffered a fall in his studio in Paterna that made him enter the Arnau de Vilanova hospital, where he finally died.

When did the domestic accident occur? the artist was alone in his studio, for which he spent more than two days on the ground with injuries, unable to get up. It was a call from his health center, to which he goes regularly, which alerted the Police that he had not attended and might need help. Agents of the Police and Fire Department then went to the Paterna studio and were able to verify that, indeed, the old man was bloodied on the floor and with symptoms of hypothermia.

Son of also painter and sculptor Josep Maria Bayarri, the artist He has left a great cultural legacy in his hometown. In 1989 he was named tenured academic of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Carlos de València, of which in the years 2001 and 2002 he was vice president. In addition, in 1996 he was awarded the Gold Medal of the Circle of Fine Arts and, in October 2010, he received the Distinction of Cultural Merit of the Generalitat Valenciana.

The Valencian sculptor has been three-time recipient of the National Sculpture Medal and the Indian Hill Gold Medal.
