The barricades in Iran against the veil, on the notes of Bella Ciao

by time news

Time.news – For 80 years ‘Bella Ciao’ has been talking about itself: for the controversies at every anniversary of April 25th, but also, more recently, for the many versions that have been made of it. In Spain it was popularized – indeed pop – by the successful TV series ‘La casa di carta’ and a few days ago Laura Pausini had to explain why she did not want to sing it during a Spanish TV program.

But today resonates on the smartphones of young Iranians who pass a version in Farsi that has become a sort of anthem of the protests against the obligation of the veil and against the regime of the ayatollahs.

“Either all together or even alone / beautiful hello beautiful cioa / we wake up in the moonlight / we who will stay awake until the next day / in the end our hands will break / the chain of oppression all over the world” say the verses sung by two very young sisters: Once and Samin Bolouri. Two voices and a guitar: the song of revolt has already made more than 40 thousand views on YouTube and SoundCloud and 80 thousand on Spotify.
