“The Bradford family”, a TV series broadcast in the United States exactly 45 years ago, from 1977 to 1981, followed for five seasons the daily events of a large family in Sacramento, California, made up of eight children aged between 8 and 23 years old: David, Mary, Joanie, Susan, Nancy, Elizabeth, Tommy and Nicholas. The father of the protagonists of the show (which can be seen on Paramount Network from Monday to Friday at 8.00) is Tom Bradford, journalist – widower – of the local Sacramento Register newspaper. He was given the face by Dick Van Patten, also known for his collaboration with Mel Brooks (“High Voltage”, “Spaceballs”, “Robin Hood – A man in tights”). For his work on television in 1985 the Hollywood Walk of Fame awarded him a star at 1541 North Vine Street and in 2008 the actor received a star on the Palm Springs Walk of Stars. He died at the age of 86, on June 23, 2015, from complications related to diabetes.
