Football players and the head coach of the Brazilian national team do not support the holding of the America’s Cup in the country. The tournament was planned to be held in Colombia and Argentina. However, in May, Colombia was deprived of the rights to host the cup due to massive protests, and Argentina later lost the tournament due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The players of the Brazilian national team expressed their displeasure after the match of the qualifying tournament of the World Cup with the team of Ecuador (2: 0). After the game, midfielder Casemiro, vice-captain of the team, said that all members of the national team and its head coach Tite want to refuse to participate in the America’s Cup.
